“Digitization and networking the value creation processes of SMEs offer promising options for increasing their competitiveness and opening up new market opportunities. In contrast to this is the reluctance of SMEs to deal with the topic of Industry 4.0. The reasons for this include, among others, the staffing structure of many SMEs, their established infrastructure and the necessity for rapid amortization of investments. These special characteristics and the skepticism to be observed are to be specifically addressed by means of a suitable approach, appropriate qualification requirements and supporting activities during implementation so that the Industry 4.0 project gains momentum among SMEs. The LBF is part of the consortium and provides support with practical demonstration objects and on-site projects at companies that deal with the monitoring of components and systems.” Andreas Wank, M.
